The material challenge
Zirconia is hard, brittle and non-conductive. Those characteristics can make both conventional machining and thermal methods difficult for intricate prototype shapes.
Why Finecut fit
Micro abrasive waterjet applies a narrow, cold cutting action and does not depend on electrical conductivity. This provided a route to the required complex geometry.
From prototype to production
Geometry, thickness, support strategy and edge criteria determine the final process window. Finepart validates these factors on the customer's actual material.
Historic application note: specifications and results reflect the machine configuration and test conditions used at the time. New applications are verified through a current test cut.
